I received a strange letter in the mail about hanging up a Labor Law Compliance notice sign for my Colorado LLC... What do I do about it?
Some companies may be phishing for extra information or money by sending marketing materials to new LLC owners... many also try and pretend they are from the state government.
Be careful about what mail you reply to and do not pay fees to unfamiliar organizations without verifying. Some companies prey on people who have recently interacted with the government by grabbing public information and automatically sending letters.
Here is an example of a common phishing scam that tries to get people who just opened a Colorado LLC to pay $94 in unnecessary fees and compliance. The appearance of the letter tries to closely mimic one from the state government to scare new business owners.
